Belanger Welding & Fabrication: Maine’s Full-Service Custom Metal Railing Fabricator
About Us
Belanger Welding & Fabrication is a local, family-owned business based in New Gloucester, ME, focused on providing clients in Maine and New Hampshire with beautiful, functional, hand-welded railings. We work with a wide range of metals, though aluminum and steel remain the most common, practical choice for most property owners. Unlike most artisanal railing producers and installers, we offer a complete service with in-person measurements, full fabrication, powder coating, and installation, including coring your concrete or granite steps.
Our History
Belanger Welding & Fabrication is a third-generation welding and fabrication company. Our founder, Jeff Belanger, bought the Belanger Welding & Fabrication shop from his father more than 25 years ago. With Jeff’s grandfather also being a professional welder with a fabrication shop, it’s safe to say that welding is the Belanger family trade.
With deep roots in New Gloucester, Belanger Fabrication and welding will be here, serving the community’s welding needs for many more years to come.
With so much history, it’s no surprise that Jeff’s 30 years in the industry has seen a wide range of projects and resulted in many happy clients.
Custom Welded Handrails
When it comes to handrails, if you can dream it, we can almost certainly build it. With decades of welding experience and more than a decade of specialized rail fabrication, we can create virtually any handrail for any application. Not only that, we can core your concrete or granite steps and install your new railings without the need to hire any additional contractors.

We’ve been able to create totally custom handrails for clients from as little as vague sketches. Though, as with any other creative project, the more specific your desired outcome, the more likely we are to make exactly what you want. For this reason, we prefer clients to find an example of what they want online, either from our catalog of past projects or elsewhere on the web. This lets us make exactly the custom metal handrails you want.
Custom Welded Concrete Molds
Steel molds have been a standard part of concrete construction work for more than a century because they are the most lasting and durable option, able to be used thousands of times with little or no upkeep. They can easily and reliably withstand the major pressures that come with large concrete pours, while plastic molds have significant limitations in terms of the size of produced pieces, the project’s weight, and their working lives.

We create custom molds for concrete pours that have been used for construction projects, septic tanks, step molds, distribution boxes, and various other projects. With high-quality, hand-welded molds, it’s possible to pour concrete for very complex projects confidently.
Hiring a welder to build your mold allows you to consistently make consistent concrete objects varying from very plain and functional (think highway dividers) to very ornate and interesting pieces (such as custom concrete paver stones, patterned building blocks, and so on).
Custom Welding Projects
There is any number of different welding projects that go beyond our two main specialties but fall well within our wheelhouse. One request we’ve been able to help many clients with is large custom driveway gates. We’ve produced gates with a surface area of over 150 square feet with welded cast iron, steel, or aluminum, customized to meet all client specifications.

These functional-yet-beautiful, decorative gates offer security, access control, and elegance to any large estate, venue, park, or facility. Prefabricated gates are often very generic, institutional, and uninspiring. They look and feel like generic gates. Hand-welded gates offer customization, significant integrity, and a more inspiring environment.
We also perform all kinds of welding repairs for large commercial vehicles and other needs in and around the community of New Gloucester, ME.
